The grave concern over the growing possibility of Flu Pandemics, such as the H1N1  variety, puts the spot light on the desparate need for hygienically clean hands in the Healthcare sector. But there is an already proved solution that can go a long way towards making hot water hand washing easily and instantly available ANYWHERE.

The remarkable Hygienius^® - by TEAL

The Hygienius^® takes an entirely fresh approach to the problem of hot water washing of hands in the Medical and Healthcare industries.

Designed to ENCOURAGE vittally important hand washing, it can be strategically sited for the most effective use as it is completely portable and self contained.
The unique TEAL 'Bluesensor' means that there are no taps, levers or buttons, the hot wash is initiated simply by placing the hands in the bowl. This results in a low pressure spray wash that is both delightful to use and fully hygienic.

In addition, the elegant style and the illuminated spray head and sign make the Hygienius^® uniquely eye catching.

The Hygienius^® is fully automatic and only needs a 13 amp power point for operation.

Washing Procedure

Once the the fresh water bag has been filled with 10 litres of cold water and the Hygienius^® is plugged in (and switched on) there is a 10 second thorough purge of cold water to flush out the system.

This completed, the Bluesensor will light up showing that it is ready for use.

Placing the hands in the bowl will trigger the commencement of the wash cycle and the Bluesensor will now flash indicating that the water is being heated.

After 3-5 seconds, when the water has reached the correct temperature of 40/45’C, the low pressure spray wash will commence and the light will be extinguished.

With the 10 second hot wash completed, the hands must be lifted from the bowl to allow the system to reset. When reset the Bluesensor will re-light and the wash cycle can be repeated for additional washing or rinsing as required.
 

TEALtainer™ II Twin Bag

The TEALtainer™ II Twin Bag is located in the base of the Hygienius^® and is a self contained carrying vessel for both the fresh and waste water each separately and hygienically secured.

It contains 2 - 10 litre capacity heavy duty plastic bags with separate lids. The WHITE sealed lid is complete with fresh water dip tube and connector whilst the RED open one sits beneath the waste water outlet from the bowl inside the Hygienius^®.

Once the 10 litres of fresh water has been used up then the waste bag will be full. The waste water can then be emptied into a suitable foul water drain and the bag for fresh water can be replenished.

Each ten second wash uses approximately 200 ml of water so that the TEALtainer™ provides approximately 50 ten second hot washes.

Product FAQs

Are there any taps to keep clean?
No - the Hygienius^® is completely automatic. Just place your hands in the bowl to get a most delightful 10 second hot wash and as it is fully automatic there is nothing to adjust - just the same luxurious wash time after time.

How do I plumb it in?
Hygienius needs NO plumbing! Every Hygienius^® has a TEALtainer™ Twin Bag that separately contains the clean water and hygienically retains the waste water.

How many hand washes will the Hygienius™ provide before refilling is necessary?
Each ten second wash uses approximately 200 ml of water so that the TEALtainer™ Twin Bag provides approximately 50 ten second hot washes.

How do I disinfect my TEALtainer™?
There is a simple routine developed with the help of the Hospital Infection Research Laboratory, City Hospital, Dudley Road, Birmingham B18 7QH.

It involves the emptying of the TEALtainer and refilling the fresh water bag with a 500ppm chlorine solution. By means of the purge button located on the under side of the power box behind the lift up display panel, the disinfectant solution can be run through the water system for a period of 5 minutes. The TEALtainer can then be emptied and fresh water used to flush out any remaining disinfectant.

It is suggested that if this procedure is carried out every other day it "is sufficient to maintain a negligible level of contamination".

What About Legionella?
With the Disinfection routine outlined above, there is zero possibility of any Micro-organism build up. Using instantaneous heating there is no retained warm water. With the low pressure water delivery, there is no possibility of forming any fine spray water droplets to be breathed in.
